The National Mandingo Caucus of Liberia has called on the Transitional Government to speedily charge all those that have been arrested in connection with the recent riots that engulfed Monrovia and its suburbs.
At a news conference Thursday, the president of the group, Musa Bility, along with some executives of the Caucus said it was important that the government charge and send to court all alleged rioters to ensure that justice is dispensed in accordance with the laws of Liberia.
He stated that it was unlawful for some of the alleged rioters to still be in police's detention without them being charged for the alleged act they committed.
The Mandingo Caucus, through their president, assured the Government that the Caucus would not protect any of its tribe members that would be found guilty in connection with the riots.
Mr. Bility said the recent riots were not a religious war as it was being said in some quarters. Instead, he said it was sparked off and used by anti-peace elements to vandalize people property that they have labored for over the years.
But he averred, "we think as Liberians, we should do anything we can do to avoid these things because they do no good for our country."
Mr. Soko Sackor, a member of the Caucus said it was time for Liberians to live together as one family and do away with those things that have the propensity to revert the peace process.
He stated that no one is more Liberian than the other, as such, he added that everybody should work together in order to rebuild Liberia which is considered one of the lest developed country in the world.
Ambassador Jallah K.K. Kamara, an executive of the Mandingo Caucus who also spoke at the news conference, recalled that over the years, Mandingos and the others 15 tribes of Liberia have been living together as one people without any problem and have had religion tolerance.
"This is the kind of relationship that we want and like to see exist between us not one that would separate or divide us...," Ambassador Kamara said.
The Caucus then called on all members of the Mandingo tribe to remain calm and live in peace with their fellow Liberians brothers and sisters so that they all can contribute toward the development of their country.
